Thursday night – TV to Watch

Premiere week continues with a huge array of shows returning tonight. Big Bang Theory blasts off, Two and a Half Men, Person of Interest, Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal return. With the return of crowd favorite The Big Bang Theory I’m sure CBS will win the night. I will be watching, because those geeks are truly HILAR!

8 pm The Big Bang Theory (CBS) | Season 6 premiere: Can Howard keep the peace from the two Wolowitz’s in his life new wife Bernadette and the infamous loud Jewish mother?

8:30 pm Two and a Half Men (CBS) | Season 10 premiere: Michael Bolton plays himself as Walden plans a romantic birthday celebration for Zoey.

9 pm Person of Interest (CBS) | Season 2 premiere: Reese needs the help of Detectives Carter and Fusco – and gets an assist from a uniquely talented, ferocious new ally — to get a kidnapped Finch back from his nemesis, Root.

9 pm Grey’s Anatomy (ABC) | Season 9 premiere: We’re back from the wake of the plane crash that has killed Lexie. What is to become of Mark and Arizona? I’m thinking there are some dark days ahead for “Grey’s” fans.

10 pm Scandal (ABC) | Season 2 premiere: Olivia gave up her White House “privileges” at the end of last season, but is still helping D.C. power players who get caught in PR nightmares. Before we get to them, we need to find out who the hell Quinn really is and what she did!

We’ve got the series premieres: will CBS score with Elementary? Is Last Resort to high concept or will it gain a following? It’s a modern day twist on the legendary Holmes and Watson and the producers have already said they’re will be no “hanky panky” between the two leads. Can you get behind a series with a male / female lead when you know they’re never going to hook up?

10 pm Elementary (CBS) | Series premiere: This modern-day riff on Sherlock Holmes presents him as a former Scotland Yard detective and recovering addict (played by Eli Stone’s Jonny Lee Miller) whose sober companion, Watson (Southland’s Lucy Liu), doubles as his sidekick.

8 pm Last Resort (ABC) | Series premiere: Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and Karl Gajdusek bring us the crew of a U.S. Naval submarine, commanded by Andre Braugher (Homicide), that finds itself under attack – by its own country — after questioning orders to fire at Pakistan. The cast also includes Scott Speedman (Felicity), Robert Patrick (The Unit), Autumn Reeser (No Ordinary Family), Daisy Betts (Persons Unknown) and Dichen Lachman (Dollhouse). I love, love, love Scott Speedman – Ben Covington forever! But I’m concerned for this high concept show. It remains to be seen if this can be pulled off.
